THE AFRICAN FEMALE CHILD! BY NANCY NWOKORA

The female child, our birth is not always celebrated, we are vulnerable from birth to adulthood, society has kept us in the bottom of the food chain for a long long time, our fathers frown when we are born and some secretly wish we were sons , while some others show there displeasure immediately, they console themselves with the fact that soon they can sale us off in marriage...

A female child is born with the burden of trying to do everything right in other to please her parents and society.

At a very young age a female child is made to do all the chores in the house while her brothers play, she is told if a boy comes close to her she would get pregnant and die...a female child is blamed for all her siblings mistake, she is constantly remembered that she is a "girl"so she can't do alot of things, her education is not taking serious until her brother is finished, after all she will marry so what does she need to be educated for ...

At a certain age the whole world starts to frown if she is not married, forgetting its not their decision to make and its not even compulsory to marry ....

When she is unsure about marriage they advice her to be fast and marry and stop being silly, because as they say "you are not complete without a MAN" they say "forget this school and get married.

They put this burden on her shoulders and she desperately goes hunting for a man...when she makes mistakes she is blamed for hunting a man like a shameless woman...

If she gets raped she is blamed for it,why did she go to a man's house ? They ask. She must have been asking for it, see how short her skirt is......

When she marries and her husband beats her black and blue, its her fault because she talked while her husband was talking, so they send her back to where a monster lives.

Even when her husband is confronted about abusing his wife, he justifies his actions by saying he is the MAN of the house...

From the beginning of a womans life till the end, she lives for others, never for herself.

Ladies maybe its time to live a little....
