Still On The Super Falcons Matter

Information Minister Lai Mohammed has stated that the Sports Minister raised the issue of the girls payment during the Federal Executive Council meeting so the President is aware but the Federal Government has no money to pay the players and officials.

Now this sharply contrasts with the claim by the CBN that the FG after providing for all domestic loans have a surplus in excess of N1 trillion.

There are some kinds of obligations that you can delay but this one attracts public shame. However, given the honesty of the Information Minister and following the appeal of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, the team should decamp since their matter is now is in the public domain.

We will be watching and waiting to see if the NFF President with the Sports Minister in tow will still go about arranging a jet through private means (according to him) or hiring one at the cost of about N42m ( allegedly) to go watch a match whilst the players and officials are owed a backlog of match allowances and salaries.

It is really sad from what we have heard post competition that the achievement of the girls and their handlers has little or no input from the NFF or Sports Ministry because they couldn't even simply just pay~ them their dues.
